Location of the Cottage

Charleston Lake Loons

When buying waterfront property, "location! location! location!" is very important. The location of this property is excellent, with a spectacular view, a quiet bay, safe swimming, good quality water.

The Charleston Lake Association, which has been around for over 100 years, is spending thousands of dollars every year to maintain or improve the water quality. The 2009 summary report for Charleston Lake water quality data indicates that the water quality conditions continue to improve. Since Charleston Lake is known for its trout and bass fishing, major creel data studies are conducted by the Ministry of Natural Resources. The Lake has 160 km of shoreline and 110 islands. It is over 300 ft deep at its deepest point; over 40% of its shoreline is owned by Charleston Lake Provincial Park. Very little new development will take place on Charleston Lake, for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MOE) has classified it as a "Lake at Capacity," allowing the Lake to keep its rugged Canadian Shield's charm.

Charleston Lake is located in the Frontenac- Arch Biosphere Reserve, which is in the process of developing a Centre for Sustainable Community Development and thereby creating and expanding the cultural diversity of the area. The Biosphere Reserve is involved in creating trails for different uses, setting up canoe routes, partnering with historians and artists etc. Just visit their web site.

Charleston Lake is right in the middle of all that is being planned. What a future for all those who own property on the Lake!
