Welcome to Charleston Lake
Charleston Lake, the hidden jewel of Eastern Ontario, won the prestigious 2009 Cottage Life "Green Cottager Award" for Canada. The Lake is hidden in the middle of the Frontenac-Arch Biosphere Reserve, which in 2002 became the thirteenth UNESCO Biosphere in Canada and the third in Ontario. The "Green Cottager Award" was won by the Charleston Lake Association for protecting water quality and its natural Canadian Shield geological setting. The Charleston Lake Association, with its 700 members, has produced a "Healthy Shoreline Review" for all 800 owners on the Lake and provided them with a detailed "Lake Plan."
Charleston Lake is located 45 minutes from the 1000 Islands International Bridge, 45 minutes NE of Kingston, just over an hour from Ottawa, 3 hours from Toronto, and 2 hours from Montreal. Athens, the nearest town, is 15 minutes away; the nearest city, Brockville, 25 minutes away.
About the Cottage
The location of the cottage is on the NW end of the lake and enjoys magnificent sun and moon rises from its east-facing view. Rarely does a cottage of this stature come on the market, for it has something for everyone: peace, quiet and serenity; a great variety of wild life from loons to bald eagles, from otters to mink, from deer to foxes; and much more. This cottage has something for everyone all year round!
